My Finngulf Story: Kristiina Saarela, May 2004 Kristina found yachting at an early age. - I spent my childhood summers in the archipelago, and it was there it began. As soon as I finished my studies I bought a motor boat. Kristina's first boat was a power daycruiser boat of mahogany. Soon it became too tough to maintain it, so she acquired a fiberglass boat instead. This boat took her among other places to the Turku archipelago and Stockholm. However, there was a rough crossing which made her consider changing to a sailing yacht. - I was coming from Stockholm over the sea next to the Åland islands against a wind of 14 m/s (28 knots). It was horrible: the boat kept flying in the air like a chip of wood. My friend was lying on the floor sick with a bucket. And in the middle of it all, I saw sailing yachts had the nerve to just wave at us! I thought that there must be some kind of magic in sailing. After two smaller sailing yachts, Kristina acquired a Finngulf 36 sailing yacht. - I kept thinking about it for years. I visited the Finngulf boatyard several times to see how they made yachts. I saw how a yacht was made with extreme care. I got my yacht in 1995 and I am very satisfied with it. |
